Gift-Giving Advice
Listen!! Yes, some of the best advice I can give you is to listen
to the person you will be shopping for. Everyday conversation gives
us dozens of ideas - if you listen close enough. Our daily lives
are filled with wants and "needs" and problems (solving
a 'problem' for someone is one of the best gifts). Someone complaining
about a sore back or too much stress or an old washer produce instant
gift ideas. All you have to do is listen.
Women like to be 'indulged' when it comes to gifts. They want to
know they are appreciated for their efforts, as well they should
be. The key for the giver is to figure out what kind of indulgence
will spark real joy or relaxation or emotion. Always consider the
emotion behind the gift.
Men want to be men - so indulge them as well in their machismo.
There's nothing quite like getting a 'guys' gift - whether it be
a gadget, tool or ticket. The easiest way to please men is to surprise
their testosterone or challenge their intellect.
Teens want to be themselves although they're not quite sure what
that means. Part of that is their "image", part of it
is their desire to be independent. So that means that clothes are
a no-no but gift cards are smart.
Two words: educational toys. We recommend nothing less than fun,
innovative items that challenge and teach children. You just can't
go wrong. Find toys which require at least 80% input from the child and 20% input from the toy.
